East C.a.n. (community Action Network) - Nashville Pet Shelter

East C.a.n. (community Action Network)

If anyone can... East C.A.N.! We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of East Nashville volunteers who have worked together since 2008, encouraging accountability on issues of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. We do not have a shelter and instead facilitate neighbors helping neighbors as we all find, foster and nurture stray and abandoned dogs. We connect fosters and finders with: Basic supplies (food, crate, bowls, leashes, collars, dog beds, etc.); Essential vetting and medications (including spay/neuter); Training and socialization resources; Proven marketing avenues to reach qualified, potential forever homes; Responsible oversight of the adoption process (applications, home visits and follow-ups). East CAN is proud of its reputation, providing quality supplies and care for more than 1000 dogs over the years. We fully depend on community support from businesses, donors and hands-on volunteers. We have a role for you too. Email us at [email protected] and learn more!

Adoption Process

Visit our adoptables profile on PetFinder.com to get more information about the adoptable animals we currently have available. If you are interested in one of the animals you see, email us with the name of the animal in question, and be sure to include information on the kind of home you can provide the animal. Also fill out the Adoption Application Form. If you don’t see an animal that fits your lifestyle listed on our website currently, send us an email containing details of what exactly you are looking for. We can check to see if there is a match in our network, or notify you when we come across an available pet that fits your requirements. Once we receive your paperwork, we will email you to set up a meet and greet. We will also check your references and if we all decide to proceed to the next steps we will do a home visit and then a 2 week trial visit. We do not sign contracts or require fee payment until the 2 week trial is complete and all parties have decided it is a good fit and the adoption should be finalized. East C.A.N. requests that adopters pay a fee to offset the costs of vetting and caring for our animals until forever homes are found. The adoption fee is $150.00.

At Agape, we have seen it all when it comes to man’s best friend. But despite the misfortunes these animals have endured, our commitment to them remains steadfastly clear: to provide loving, emotionally stable, nurturing foster care for them while they wait for their forever homes, for their forever families. Through no fault of their own, our dogs found themselves in homeless situations. We are

The original Cat Shoppe opened 27 years ago in Green Hills. A little over a decade later, it moved it to it’s most recent Berry Hill location and decided to add products for our other four-legged friends and became the Cat Shoppe and Dog Store. Having been in the business for over 27 years, the owner decided to sell the Berry Hill buildings and retire at the beginning of 2019. The Cat Shoppe’

Our mission is to save dogs from high-kill shelters where they would otherwise be euthanized. The rescued dogs are fully vetted and spayed or neutered, then taken to a foster home where they are treated like family. Fostering allows our team time to get to know the dog’s personality and temperament so we can match the dog with the right family. We then get to know the potential adoptive family t
