Forever Home Canine Rescue - Barium Springs Pet Shelter

Forever Home Canine Rescue is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, all-volunteer supported rescue for unwanted and homeless dogs. Small breed dogs are our specialty, but we do on occasion rescue other sizes of dogs. We do not have a shelter, and operate solely out of a network of foster homes. Our mission is to find loving "forever" homes for the deserving dogs in our care, and to provide education regarding responsible pet ownership. Forever Home Canine Rescue’s base is in Iredell, Catawba, and surrounding counties of North Carolina. We rescue dogs from unfortunate situations such as abandoned, neglected, or surrendered by their owners... many who find themselves homeless at County Animal Control Shelters. Through the use of our Foster Home Program we can then place them in their forever home.

Adoption Process

The first step in our adoption process is the completion of the Adoption Application form. Our Adoption Application form can be submitted four different ways. You can print out a hard copy in .doc or .pdf format and fax or snail mail it, scan a completed copy and email it, or fill out the .doc form and send it as an email attachment. When a dog is placed into our Rescue Program, we review ALL of our pending applications to make the best possible match between the dog’s needs and the prospective adopter’s preferences. Our process is focused on the welfare of the dog, as the needs of the dog are our primary concern. Our goal is to place each dog in an environment appropriate for that dog’s background, personality, temperament and needs. After receiving a completed application, we will contact the applicant within a few days and begin the approval process. Please be patient… it sometimes takes longer than even we would like. The approval process involves a combination of phone interviews, a veterinarian check, reference check, and at times a home visit. For applicants outside our local area, part of the approval process is to obtain emailed photos of an applicant’s home, yard, family, and other pets, since conducting a home visit may not be feasible.
