Happy Tails Rescue, Inc. is a small 501c3 NC non-profit K9 rescue organization ran by a group of hard working volunteers. We are located in the North Carolina area. Approximately 5 million to 7 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats). Shelter intakes are about evenly divided between those animals surrendered by owners and those picked up by animal control. Our mission is to try and save as many of these helpless animals as possible through networking for adoptions, fostering until a permanent home is found, and educating the importance of spay and neutering. Our rescue takes in animals that are in urgent need and many are saved from high profile shelters. We do not have a facility but utilize foster homes to provide the care and safety of our rescues. All animals in our care are vetted, micro-chipped, evaluated, socialized and taught basic obedience and leash walking. Our rescues are also taught house training and crate training when time permits to prepare them for their forever homes. We will also provide locator services for pre-approved adoptive families. We work closely with many animal shelters, humane societies, and other rescue groups. Our mission may seem minuet with the large numbers listed above but if all animal lovers could join together in the fight we can make a dent and possibly over time break a barrier. We will not give up until the world is educated on the importance of animals' lives and until God's creatures are treated fairly. They don't have a voice of their own, we have to speak for them and protect them all!
Our adoptions require an apporved adoption application, including personal references and a vet reference as well as a home check. The home check is nothing major just a breif check to make sure the address/location is correct and that there are no unknown pets living in the home. The adoption process may seem lengthy, but we just like to call it "thorough!" The questions we ask and procedures we follow are simply measures to make sure you and the dog you adopt are perfect for each other - FOREVER! Adoption fee is $300 with approved adoption application which includes age appropriate shots, rabies, spay/neuter, micro chip, heartworm test (treated if positive) started on monthly prevention if negative. Dental if needed as well as any other medical necessities. Comes with goody bag of toys, treats, collar, leash, etc. Also comes with 1 month (30 days) of free doggie health insurance.
