Charlotte Cocker Rescue rescues dogs from kill-shelters and animal control agencies throughout North Carolina and nearby states. Many rescued dogs have health issues but we give them veterinary care and grooming to ready them for adoption. We embrace the challenge of addressing the needs of needy and abandoned dogs - ones that simply need some care and some time. We try not to turn our backs on any dog needing rescue. On average we rescue between 50 and 60 dogs a year. At any one time we typically have about 25 to 30 dogs in care, and approximately 50 dogs a year are adopted.
Our adoption process begins with an adoption application. Our board members will review all applications and contact you via email ASAP. We strive to match the best possible homes with the cockers we have in rescue that meets your family's needs. We do not do trial adoptions as it simply is not fair to the new families and to the rescue kids. Our beliefs are that the rescue animals deserve a second chance and our volunteer foster families provide a tremendous service helping us access each dog’s personality. By fostering them first, we are able to place them in a loving home with many details to their habits, likes and dislikes, and whether they do well with other pets and/or children. We do our very best when matching our rescue kids to the families adopting them. Once an application has been approved and the applicant's references checked, we will make arrangements for you to come meet your potential new family member. We encourage all members of your family to be present during adoption meeting. Our administrative office is located in Kannapolis, NC. We do not have a public kennel facility available but will be happy to arrange for you to meet our rescue cockers once we have an approved application. We work with our foster homes so any appointments will be made on Saturdays due to our work schedules. We must have an approved application on file before showing any rescued animal - no exceptions. All adoptions are handled on Saturdays, usually early mornings. We hope you understand that our foster families may have other commitments as well so we try to handle all rescue business early mornings on Saturdays. Any other times will be arranged per the adoption coordinator. All adoption fees must be paid either by cash, cashier's check, or money order.
