Pets & People is a volunteer based group that focuses on rescuing dogs and cats from local municipal shelters. These pets are all vet checked, given appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, tested for various diseases, given preventative medications, spayed or neutered and then sheltered until responsible homes are found. Since beginning this mission in 1993 we have rescued and placed over 55,000 dogs and cats. Pets & People Humane Society, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill humane society that rescues adoptable cats and dogs from municipal animal control facilities across the state of Oklahoma on the day they are to be euthanized. We provide a safe harbor for our pets until they are adopted into responsible, loving homes. All are spayed or neutered to help end the vicious cycle of homeless pets.
1. Browse our adoptable pets online. When you find a pet you’re interested in, fill out our adoption questionnaire below. Be sure to include the pet’s name. 2. You should hear back from us within 48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays. 3. If the initial application is approved, a video call will be scheduled to discuss your application. Please pick a time where you will be at home so we can see your space and where the pet will be spending most of his/her time. 4. At this time, if the space and application are in order we will set up a face to face meeting with the pet. 5. If you are a match, in most cases you will be able to take home your new pet after the face to face meeting. You will be given copies of all medical records at that time. Please be aware these basic steps will help us greatly in finding a perfect match for your home! We ask that you be patient with us while we are processing your application.
