We save Dachshunds in need. In 2016 alone we saved 572 doxies in need- more than 1 per day. We care for their physical needs, emotional needs and find suitable homes. We save many Dachshunds from horrific situations - from puppy mills & hoarders, abusive & neglectful homes, drug homes, dogs who would be sold for bait dogs for dog fighting and those who have been abandoned or discarded. We believe that every single one of these wonderful little dogs deserves love and care. Life doesn't always work out that way. Sometimes dogs are injured and their owners cannot afford or provide appropriate care. Sometimes dogs are used solely as breeding vessels and are tossed aside when they are no longer useful. Families can also under-estimate what dog ownership requires and realize too late that they cannot care for their pet. Sometimes dogs outlive their humans and there is no one to take them in. That is where the Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. comes in. (We didn’t just stop at rescuing Dachshunds- we’ve even saved a litter of kittens, a donkey, feral cats, a horse, rabbits, birds & young pit bulls)
Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. always has the best interest of the dog at heart. We feel it is our responsibility to place them in homes that will not only provide them with love, but healthy living conditions for their specific breed needs. All adopters will be required to sign a contract. In the event the adoptable dog doesn't work out, our contracts specify they are to be returned to Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. has the right to reclaim any pet which is kept under conditions violating the contract agreement. Adoptions are initially arranged by email. Your information will be reviewed and you will receive a response as soon ASAP. If you do not see the dog you are looking for on our current list, please complete the questionnaire and we will put you on the list of approved adopters when the right dog comes in. At the time of the adoption, you will be asked to fill out an agreement. This is an agreement between you and Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. in which you will agree to certain conditions for your new furry friend. Please know that we are not trying to judge anyone's lifestyle. We only want to ensure that these dogs -- many of whom have already had a difficult life - find the very best homes where they can live their years in healthy, safe and loving environments.
