Our mission is to take unwanted, neglected, abused, homeless beagles, and beagles at risk of euthanasia and provide them with emotional, medical, and behavioral support so that they can be adopted into loving permanent homes.
Apply - Complete our on-line adoption application. Telephone Interview - Cyd Hawkins, our Adoption Coordinator, will give you a call to discuss your application and the type of dog you’re looking for. Working with you she will help identify a good fit for your family and your living arrangements. Home Visit - One of our volunteers will call to schedule a home visit if we feel we have a match for you. During this visit, we are not looking to see how clean you keep your home! We are mainly looking for areas that may be a safety hazard for a beagle, paying special attention to your fence. After doing your research, you are sure to understand that beagles will take any opportunity to follow their noses and get lost. We will advise areas of needed repair, if any. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about the breed and our process. This volunteer is not the one making the decisions about adoption. Upon completion of the home visit, a report will be given to the Adoption Coordinator stating whether or not your home is suitable for a beagle. Meet & Greet - We will arrange for you to meet the beagle we have mutually agreed upon. All of our beagles are in foster homes so it is not possible to just go around and meet them all. Please trust the judgement of our team to match you with a beagle! You will not have to accept any beagle we present, but almost always it’s love at first Arooo! Adoption Day - You have gone through what may seem like a lengthy process and now you will it was worth it! Your beagle will either be delivered to your home or a mutually agreed upon meeting place and time will be arranged. You will get to meet your dog again and if you’re sure you want to proceed, paperwork will be completed right there on the spot. This consists of a required Adoption Agreement, a Transfer of Ownership form, health history information, microchip information and a packet of beagle information. Adoption fees are collected and the dog is handed over to your waiting arms. Congratulations on your new addition! Post Adoption - Within 72 hours of your adoption, someone from our team will check in with you to make sure the transition is going well. Sometimes there are questions and we are always here for you….ALWAYS! Please feel free to email us at: adopt@cascaderescue.org if you are facing challenges or just want to share a cute story about your beagle.
