Dachshund Lovers of Texas is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, all volunteer, foster based, no-kill rescue group for dachshunds. We are dedicated to the belief that helping pets helps people, and that any life is too precious to throw away when a bit of love can save it! We are a foster-based, no-kill rescue program located in Dallas, Texas. Once the dogs are in our program, they are safe in their foster homes until they find an appropriate forever home.
1) Adoption Application. Completed by the applicant and provides DLT with valuable information so a good match can be made. Vet references will be verified to confirm current pets are altered, up to date on vaccinations and on Heartworm preventative. 2) Phone interview. A DLT volunteer will contact you to review your application and answer any questions you may have about our program. 3) Home visit. A DLT volunteer will schedule a visit with the applicant at their home to answer any final questions and to ensure the home is properly set up/secured for the safety of the dog. 4) Meet Your New Dachshund. DLT will arrange with you a meeting location to introduce you to your new forever friend. If all goes well in the opinion of both the applicant and the representative of Dachshund Lovers of Texas, then the adoption may be completed. 5) Adoption Contract and Fee. An adoption agreement will be required, as well as payment of the associated fee, to finalize the adoption and accept delivery of the dog.
