Charlie's Place is a modern, county owned and managed animal shelter serving the residents of Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties in Colorado. The shelter provides nourishment and a safe environment for abandoned, homeless, stray, and impounded dogs and cats. We offer dog and cat adoptions, microchipping, spay/neuter coupons, humane trap loans, and monthly low-cost vaccination clinics.
Come to the shelter and meet the animal you are interested in. If you are interested in a dog, bring any other dogs you may have for a "meet and greet" session. Bring your family members. If you want to adopt the animal, fill out an application. Multiple applications on animals are accepted. If more than one person is interested in adopting an animal, the home that is judged to be the best fit for the animal will be selected--it is not "first come, first served." The animals in our care often came to us because of abuse, neglect or abandonment. Sometimes they were surrendered by a person who couldn't care for them appropriately. These animals have a second chance at the shelter. They've already had a hard life, so we consider it important to place them into homes that will be safe, loving, and permanent. Please note that we typically do not do same day adoptions. The process may take days for an animal with multiple applications or where home checks need to be scheduled. If we believe for any reason that the animal is not a good match for an applicant, we reserve the right to not approve the adoption.

That estimate was shattered within a few months and RROC has saved well over 2000 retrievers and continues
