Foothills Animal Shelter is an open admission shelter. Our doors are always open to pets in Jefferson County and we are committed to serving our community as a socially-conscious shelter. We care for thousands of kittens, dogs, puppies and critters every year with a compassionate team of staff and volunteers. (Unfortunately, we can not accept wild animals; they should be taken to organizations who specialize in their care.) We are a true community resource and offer a variety of services including pet adoption, Jefferson County pet licensing, affordable spaying and neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and lost and found pets. We are so focused on our important mission and the life-saving work that we do every day of the year, that we are pleased to announce our commitment to the Socially Conscious Animal Community movement. The fundamental goal of this commitment is to create the best outcomes for all animals.
Once you spot a dog, cat or critter that you are interested in meeting, you can follow these steps: 1. Learn about the pet’s history, personality and care requirements. 2. Visit with the animal in one of our private “Getting to Know You” rooms. 3. If you decide to adopt, talk with a Customer Care Representative. 4. Fill out an application to be approved for adoption. 5. Pay the adoption fees, and take your new pet home!
