Animal Heartline Humane Association - Lombard Pet Shelter

Animal Heartline Humane Association

Animal Heartline was founded by a small group of animal lovers who were individually helping stray and abandoned animals. Chartered in 1979 as a humane society and officially recognized as a not-for-profit group enabled us to care for more animals. We are a no-kill organization staffed entirely by volunteers who are dedicated to finding homes for stray and unwanted pets. We obtain medical treatment for these pets and provide them with food and shelter until permanent, loving homes are found.

Adoption Process

Animal Heartline seeks to find loving, permanent homes for the animals in our care. When you adopt an animal from Animal Heartline, you are giving that animal a second chance on life. Your adoption donation helps pay for the care animals receive before adoption: spaying or neutering, necessary vaccinations, tests, and treatments for any medical concerns, food and shelter. After the adoption, it is your responsibility to give a loving home for the rest of the animal’s life. You must be 21 years of age or older, with proper proof of age. Current identification must show your correct address and telephone number. If you are currently renting or reside in a condo, you must show proof that you are able to keep a pet on the premises. All members of the household must be present for adoption. If you are adopting a feline, you must bring an animal carrier with you. Your family must be willing to allow an authorized representative of Animal Heartline to make an adoption follow-up, either in person or by telephone. Spaying or Neutering of pets adopted through Animal Heartline is required, if the animal is not already altered. When adopting a pet from Animal Heartline, a legally binding and enforced contract must be signed. If at any time you are unable to keep the pet, or unable to provide it with proper care, it must be offered back to Animal Heartline before making other arrangements.
