Act Now Rescue - Saint Louis Pet Shelter

Act Now Rescue

ACT Now! Rescue is an all volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) no kill dog rescue and animal welfare organization serving St. Louis County, Jefferson County, St. Charles, Warren and Franklin County in Missouri. We operate through a foster network and work with local shelters, as well as take in stray and abandoned animals. As an organization, we strongly oppose puppy mills and breeding programs and emphasize education and a vigorous spay/neuter program in order to reduce problems of overpopulation. We started full operations in September 2006. There are many exciting opportunities to join the group and help further the causes of dog and cat welfare in this region. We are currently looking for generous people willing to share their homes and serve as foster parents for the animals we take in as well as volunteers to serve is almost every other area of the operation.

Adoption Process

Find a dog you’d like to adopt on our adoptables page. Submit your application for that dog. The Initial review of your application will occur within 48-72 hours. Please contact your vet authorizing them to release information to us. Also, let your references know we’ll be calling. Failure to take these steps may delay the process. After your application has been processed you will receive an email informing you of your approval/denial. In some cases, a dog/puppy, may receive many applications. We try to process in order of received, and best match. The foster parent will contact you to schedule a meet and greet. Please ask any questions that you have about the dog during phone conversation and meet and greet. Our phones are available to contact us afterwards also. This meeting/adoption will take place at a location convenient for you and the foster. Keep in mind, a home visit must be done if you live local (near St. Louis.) In most cases, you will be able to finalize your adoption of the dog at this meeting. The dog’s foster parent will have a contract for you to review and sign at when you go to meet your new pup. If you are from out of state, please review the adoption contract, print, sign and email back to info@actnowrescue.net. Payment by cash, check or paypal is accepted . If you choose to use PayPal, payment should be made prior to the adoption. If a dog is not ready to go to his/her new home yet, a deposit must be paid equal to half of the adoption fee, in order for us to hold the pet for you. Congratulations! You’ve just adopted your new dog through ActNow! Rescue! ActNow Rescue is dedicated to providing the adopted animals and their adoptive homes with on-going guidance and support. If at any time you need help feel free to contact us.
