Judy's Forgotten Jewells - Saint Louis Pet Shelter

Judy's Forgotten Jewells is a licensed Non-Profit No Kill Animal Rescue Group. It was founded by our veterinarian Patricia L. Smith DVM in 2009 in honor of her mother's childhood dog "Judy Dog" and Jewell Animal Hospital. Dr. Smith believes that ALL animals deserve quality pet care and a caring home. The rescue is supported by volunteers, the Jewell Animal Hospital staff, and pet passionate people in our community who donate money and supplies. The rescue does not receive any funding from large corporation or private foundations. We do charge an adoption fee which helps cover only a fraction of what it costs to spay/neuter, vaccinate, implant and activate a microchip, feed our animals and also provide any medical treatment prior to adoption.

Adoption Process

The first step to adopt from Judy's Forgotten Jewells is to find the pet you'd like to meet with! We list our pets on many platforms, but the main ones are PetFinder, Adopt-A-Pet, and Facebook. The next step to adopt from Judy's Forgotten Jewells is to reach out and book an appointment with our Adoption Team. We adopt by scheduled and confirmed appointments only. We do adopt on a first come, first serve basis, so it us important to try to get in as soon as you're available. Puppies and kittens get adopted very quickly. We may ask you if you have a second choice when scheduling your appointment. The next (and best) step is to meet with the pet of your choice here at our shelter! We ask everyone that comes to meet with our pets to fill out an application. Your application will be processed by our Adoption Team. We look very closely at our applicants, and reserve the right to deny any application that we feel is not in the pets best interest. We do offer same day adoption, with an approved application. So, as long as everything works out, you could take your new pet home that day! We do offer options to reserve your pet and pick them up at a later date. The limit on this is around two weeks.
