Tails Of Hope Animal Rescue - Ross Pet Shelter

Tails of Hope Animal Rescue is a 501.c.3 non-profit rescue 100% volunteer powered organization that is dedicated to finding forever homes for dogs and puppies that were abandoned. Our outreach is limited due to our available foster space, but we do everything that we can to help pull puppies and dogs from at capacity kill shelters. We generally try to focus on the tristate area, pulling from rural shelters in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, but sometimes are asked to assist with hoarding cases from other parts of the country. Once a dog or puppy comes into our program, we do age appropriate vetting and work hard to match them with approved homes. We also are dedicated to making sure that each dog and puppy, if age appropriate, that comes through our program is altered so that they don't contribute in the future to the gross pet overpopulation problem that plagues the tristate area. Older puppies and adults are altered before being adopted out, and puppies are required, via our contract, to be altered when they are deemed old enough by a veterinarian. Tails of Hope Animal Rescue does not have a public facility and do not have the funds or staff to support such a large endeavor. Instead we are a network of loving foster parents that care for our puppies and dogs through the week and meet at the Petsmart on Saturday's for you to meet your new best friend. Our goal is to put a dent in the amount of dogs euthanized and save just one more. We get over a hundred requests a week asking us to help with at capacity kill shelters. Every week they have to put down both dogs and puppies to make room for the new ones that are being surrendered and abandoned. For every dog that we take, we save two - the one we rescued, and one more for making that space available for another week.

Tails of Hope reserves the right to deny an application for any reason. Please know that are goal is to find the best home for the dog or puppy. Adult Adoptions: The adoption fee is $165. All adults will be fully vetted, which includes alter, Rabies, DHLPP and up to date on HW Preventative and Flea Preventative. As with all of our puppies and dogs, we do our best to determine breed and size when grown, by using vet and shelter input, but we can not make any guarantees. Puppy Adoptions: The adoption fee is $190.00. All puppies have at least their first shot and have been dewormed. Older puppies will have age appropriate vaccinations, but do understand that sometimes an older puppy comes to us with no vetting and a late start is had with the puppy vaccination series. As with all of our puppies and dogs, we do our best to determine breed and size when grown, by using vet and shelter input, but we can not make any guarantees. If your application has been approved, you will be invited to put a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold a puppy of your choice to ensure that they are available at the time of adoption. (Absolutely DO NOT place a deposit until you have received an invitation to do so.) A deposit must be received at least 12 hours from the invitation or we will reach out to the next application. Deposits are applied towards the adoption fee and the remaining of the fee will be $140. Application Processing: We will do our best to process your application in a timely manner, but please know that it can take days to a couple weeks to process an applications for a particular dog or a litter of puppies. Puppies especially can have a LOT of interest which can result in delay from our processing team. If you have not heard from us within a week you are always welcome to reach out to us at tailsofhope@live.com. Some common areas that hold up an approval are verifying home ownership or if you rent, we must verify pet policy, please be ready with a copy of your lease in the event we can’t reach your landlord. The biggest issue with approval is whether your current pets have an active vet history, are they up to date on shots, HW Preventative and fixed if appropriate. Having a copy handy of your latest vet records can also help expedite the process in the event that we can’t reach your vet or they can’t find your records. If you are a first time pet owner, offering up a vet reference from your parents can often help expedite the process.
