Luvfurmutts Animal Rescue - West Chester Pet Shelter

LuvFurMutts Animal Rescue is a small group of people who have been drawn together by our desire to help God's Creatures who cannot speak for themselves. We value dogs of all breeds, but we specialize in smaller size dogs due to our foster parents capabilities. We work as a team to pull dogs from high kill shelters or Senior Citizen owners who are going into nursing homes and cannot care for their companion any longer. Our main focus is senior dogs, as they are the first to be euthanized in shelters. Although a dog may be in their Golden Years, they still deserve to live out the rest of their life in a loving family. We particularly love when we can adopt a senior dog to a lonely senior citizen as they now have a close companion. We do our best to find the right home and fit for the dog so they never end up alone or abandoned again. Our senior program is the main reason LuvFurMutts was created. LuvFurMutts prides ourselves in being a no-kill rescue and we take care of our dogs to the end of their life if needed. Even if this means taking care of them for years, we never give up on our dogs. Thank you for your time and remember, mutts need love, too!

Adoption Process

If you would like to meet a dog that you are considering adopting, we REQUIRE you to first fill out an application. Please read below for ALL the details. LFM has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs. We do not operate under a first-come, first-served model. As an all-volunteer organization, it may take up to a week or two before everything is finalized. Please know we do our best to process adoption applications as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience in the process! Visits to meet available pets are by appointment only and an application is required before we will set up an appointment. This saves both us and you time by allowing us to check your references and get your application approved before your visit is scheduled. Once you are approved to adopt, we will set up an appointment. If you are planning on meeting an adoptable dog at at adoption event, please submit your application ahead of the adoption event you plan to attend so we have time to review it prior to the event. This is important as we do not do same-day adoptions. Also, be sure we know you are coming to see a particular dog. We do not have enough volunteers to bring all dogs to events. LuvFurMutts reserves the right to deny any application. We will let you know whether your application is approved or denied.
