St. Tammany Animal Resource Team (START), founded in 1997, is devoted to reducing the number of homeless animals in our community. We are an all volunteer group which depends on donations and fundraisers to pay for veterinary care and spaying/neutering of animals. All donations to START go directly to benefit the animals. Our rescues are fostered in the homes of volunteers until placement. START is working toward the day when no animal is killed simply because it does not have a home.
Start by filling out our adoption form which helps our adoption counselors ensure that you and your home would be an ideal fit for one of our rescue animals. Once approved for an adoption, our counselor will set up an opportunity for you to meet the rescue animal that you're interested in, so that you have a chance to spend time with the rescue that you're interested in. If you'd still like to adopt the rescue in question after this meeting, you're almost done! All that's left is paying the adoption fee and a few more forms! Finally, take your new furry family member home, and enjoy your new life together!
