Southern Siberian Rescue - Raleigh Pet Shelter

Southern Siberian Rescue

Southern Siberian Rescue is a group of dedicated volunteers responsibly rescuing Siberian Huskies in need throughout North Carolina and surrounding states. Our sole purpose and priority is to help unwanted, misunderstood, abandoned or neglected Siberians find homes. We do this by providing needed health care, rehabilitation and training for all our foster dogs and carefully screening potential adopters. The Siberian Husky is not a breed for everyone and adopters need to understand this breed and all of its quirks and beauty. We also spend a great deal of time educating potential owners and the public about the Siberian Husky, their special requirements, temperament, personalities and traits. We promote the importance of adopting from a reputable rescue or working with a responsible breeder when inviting a Siberian to your home.

Adoption Process

First, Find out if a Siberian Husky is the right dog for you. If you are not familiar with the Siberian Husky, please do your research on the breed because Siberians have many personality quirks that make them more of a challenge to own than other dogs. Second, Fill out our online adoption application. Once we receive it, we will do your vet and personal references. Third, After we check your references and decide whether to continue with the application process, we will schedule a homecheck to make sure your home is suitable for a Siberian. The homecheck is done so that we have a visual of where our foster dog will live; be sure that all family members are on board with adopting a Siberian Husky; be sure that your house is Siberian proof and ready; to answer any questions you may have about the breed and/or our adoption process and t o discuss possible foster dogs that will work with your lifestyle and living situation . We do ask that all family members, or people living in the home, be available at the time of the homecheck. Fourth, If or when your application is approved, we will schedule an appointment for you to meet individual dogs and decide which one is right for you!
