Sammyvale Animal Sanctuary - Montclair Pet Shelter

Sammyvale Animal Sanctuary was formed in 2000 to rescue, rehabilitate, socialize and place homeless kittens and cats. Many of them come from the streets of nearby cities like Newark, Irvington, Paterson and East Orange. Most times they arrive in poor physical health and require quick care by a veterinarian. Our end goal is to match them with forever loving homes.

Adoption Process

Potential adopters should complete an application before receiving a followup message via email or phone to schedule an in person meet & greet with the animal and myself. An applicant can expect to hear back within 3-4 days. If the applicant meets the organizations adoption policies and requirements and the visit goes well, the applicant will be approved for adoption. No kittens will be adopted prior to 8 wks of age in order to receive full medical treatment & vaccination before adoption. There is a $100 adoption fee per kitten & spay/neuter will be approved for a lower cost through our veterinarian at between 5-6 months of age. The adopter will sign a contract stating that they will have the pet neutered by our vet at no later than 6 months of age. If for some reason the adoption is not successful the adopter will contact Sammyvale immediately and give us the opportunity to re-home the kitten. In no instance shall the adopter re-home the pet themselves or bring to a shelter. Sammyvale will only adopt kittens to families with children 8yrs old and older.
