The Salem County Humane Society is a no kill shelter for homeless dogs and cats, located in Carneys Point, New Jersey. As a no kill shelter, we work hard to place animals in loving homes, but for those dogs and cats who aren't able to attract a new family, they remain at the shelter permanently and they see all the volunteers as their family.
1. Visit The Shelter: The first step is to visit the shelter and see if any of the animals seem to fit your personality and lifestyle. 2. Fill Out An Application: The second step is to fill out an application. 3. Vet Reference: From the completed application, we complete a vet reference and if that is positive, we arrange a visit to your home. 4. Home Visit: With the home visit, we are looking to provide you with helpful information to make a smooth transition for you and the animal. 5. Take Your New Family Member Home! Once all these steps are completed (the process usually takes a few days) and the adoption is approved, you can come pick up the animal. The adoption fee for a dog is $200, a puppy is $250, and for a cat and kitten, it's $100. For surrender of dog spayed or neutered it is $75.00; for surrender of unspayed or non-neutered dog is $100.00. Surrender fee for spayed or neutered cat is $50.00. Surrender fee for unspayed and non-neutered male is $75.00
