Adoption Process

Our process includes questions about current living situation, pet history, and current pets. Some of our dogs and cats would be good with kids, or other pets, or appropriate for first-time pet owners. Others may be shy, have special needs, or may be more appropriate for an experienced pet owner. Some dogs are housetrained and others are not. The questions we ask enable us to match needs and desires of the adopter with the needs of our available pets. Some pets will be the subject of multiple adoption applicants. There is no "first come, first served.” We will be the final decision maker on the best match for each pet. RU4Me Pet Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption, and we adopt only in Palm Beach County. Please note that some of our dogs require a fenced yard, though there may be some who are appropriate for apartment living or no fenced yard. Our adoption counselors are available to provide the history and needs of the available rescue pets, and are available to answer any questions concerning the pets or pet care in general - housetraining, obedience training, veterinary care, and anything else. The PetSmart store has a wonderful selection of supplies and one of our volunteers will be happy to help you shop for the right items. Dog adopters should check out the great training also offered in the store. Once the Adoption Application is approved, interview completed, and pet choosen for adoption, the final step is to sign the Adoption Contract and the adoption fee. Our adoption fees range between $90 and $110 depending on the particular cat. Our dog adoption fee is $200 and up. Per Palm Beach County ordinance, we are required to provide all adopters of animals over 12 weeks a rabies tag. This fee is $15 and can be paid in cash or check, with checks payable to Palm Beach County. This is a separate fee from our adoption fee. Adoptions are held each weekend at PetSmart in Boynton Beach on Saturdays 10am-3pm and Sundays from 11am-3pm. Please note that we are all volunteer and have no paid employees). If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 561-736-1313 and leave a message, or email us at [email protected].
