Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue - Greeley Pet Shelter

Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue

Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping as many Siamese and Siamese-mix cats as we can. We are based in Colorado, but it is our intention to serve the West and Midwest. We first became involved in rescue with the Virginia Siamese Cat Rescue Center (VASRC) in early 1998. Our Executive Directors also served on the VASRC Board of Directors from 1999-2001; served as Transport Directors for the Meezer Express from 1999-2002; fostered for Kansas Siamese Rescue for several years before its closing in 2004; and worked with other Colorado volunteers as a chapter of California Siamese Rescue from 2003-2004 before forming our own organization in 2004. We enjoy great working relationships with local shelters and other rescue groups. We do not currently have a rescue building, so we operate with a network of foster homes. We are constantly getting telephone calls from individuals, local shelters, rescue groups and animal hospitals to save Siamese, so our most immediate need is more foster homes and resources toward building our own facility.

Adoption Process

1. Review the Adoption Policies. 2. Complete BOTH the Adoption and Vet Reference Forms in full, and send them, along with a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee. Please do not send cash! NOTE: Please make sure you have enough postage - any mail sent with insufficient postage will be returned to you. While we realize you may be anxious to begin the process, please do not send any expedited mail or "signature required" mail - this is a post office box, and we won't get it any quicker if you send it expedited. In fact, it may delay your application since we normally pick up mail after the post office has closed. The application and processing fee must be MAILED. Faxed or incomplete applications will not be processed. Please mail your applications to: Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue, Attn: Adoptions, P.O. Box 336563, Greeley, CO 80633. 3. We will notify you via email (if you have it) once your application has been received. Our preferred first choice of contact is email - it takes less manpower, is less expensive and is easiest for us to handle. Our first attempt to contact your references will be via email. The quicker we get a response, the quicker we can process your application. Please be sure to notify the people you list as references that we will be contacting them via email or phone - they need to check their email or voice messages and respond so that we may continue to process your application! After the references and vet checks have been completed, you will then be contacted by a designated Rescue Center representative for an interview. 4. Once the interview is complete, and approval has been received, we will then discuss the specifics of the cat you are interested in. We work very hard to ensure we match each cat with the right situation, as evidenced by our successful placement rate! (NOTE: While basic reference checks are sometimes completed in 3-5 days, the adoption approval process can take up to two weeks depending on response time from personal references, vets, and other requirements. We are volunteers, but you can be assured we are working as hard as we can to process your application as quickly as we can.) 5. Once the approval process is completed and a Siamese has been selected, this is when you would start to make arrangements to pick up your new Meezer. Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue does not ship cats by air in cargo. Applicants from out of area must be willing to fly in to pick up the cat at their expense and carry it onboard with them for the trip home. 6. If your check is returned for insufficent funds by our bank, you will be charged a $20 returned check fee, the fees the bank charges us for resubmission fees (which vary according to bank), and the original $10 application fee before we will begin to process your application. If your application is already being processed, processing will stop. If you are already approved, the approval will be withdrawn. Please understand that we are a non-profit organization and all of the money goes toward rescuing cats. When we are charged bank fees for bounced checks, it directly and adversely affects our ability to rescue more cats.
