Rescue Rat Adoptions - Laporte Pet Shelter

Rescue Rat Adoptions

We started our rat ownership in 2010. We officially opened to the public in December 2012. We were called about 3 pregnant mommas that resulted in 26 babies being born in our home. With those babies we gained 7 handicap rats that have a type of scoliosis of the spine that will cause them to live their sweet little lives out in our care! It seems once a person knows you have one rat you are the official person to call when they have a rat to surrender. We have had a lot of rats come in and out of our home over the years. Numerous female rats have come in with tumors that required surgeries to remove. We have tons of boys who came in needing to be neutered because of the anger being intact has caused. We rescue animals from all over Northern Indiana and a few times in Michigan. We offer a forever home for those who cannot be adopted, as we tend to see a lot of special needs rats or rats with medical conditions in which we treat. Putting rats into happy homes is the best thing and those who cannot leave will live their lives out with us. We love our pet rats and would love for others to love these little guys just as much.
