We started Giant Paw Prints, Inc. because the giant breeds are usually overlooked at the shelter. They cost more to feed and vet so we try to assist by getting them fully vetted before placement. Giant Paw Prints Rescue, Inc., (GPPR) is an all volunteer-based 501(C)3 Non-Profit Charitable Organization that was founded in 2012.
Giant Paw Prints rescue is all about giving a deserving dog a great home, so please understand that our focus is on what is best for the dogs in our care. All applications are carefully reviewed and assessed for compatibility with the particular dog requested. We determine how well a home meets the specific dog's needs regarding the quality of time available, support, lifestyle, and experience. We will choose the home that we think is the best fit for the dog within a reasonable distance from Giant Paw Prints. We want to ensure that a Giant Paw Prints Volunteer can meet the potential adopters and have enough time to see how the dog interacts with the family and their other pets, and every adopter receives a home check. If you live farther than Indiana, Illinois, or Michigan, all of those requirements can be difficult. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, and pets of our own to care for - we do the best to get back to you promptly. Please realize that turning in an application today will not mean that you adopt a dog tomorrow. We believe in taking the time to go through our thorough process to match the dog with that dog's best fit. Our adoption process may take 2-4+ weeks, depending upon the dog. If you don't hear from us within 2-3 weeks of your application being submitted, your application will likely not be considered for that dog. If you are not matched with the dog you applied for today, and you see another available Giant Paw Prints dog for which you'd like to be considered, you will need to complete another application. We do not keep past applications.
