Co-Founded in 2016 by Robin Caputo and Marti Wheat, R & M Rockin’ Rescues works primarily in Essex, Bergen and Hudson counties in New Jersey. We also partner with other rescue organizations, shelters, and animal wellness clinics to help local residents get feral colonies spayed and neutered and we facilitate the rescue, socialization, and adoption of cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies. Robin and Marti met in 2010, volunteering at a Best Friends Animal Society adoption event in New York City. They continued to volunteer for Best Friends over the next several years, participating in puppy mill rescues, super adoptions, dog walk/adoption events, and tabling at various city-wide events. In 2012, they began rescuing animals-in-need in their own neighborhoods and have been rescuing, socializing and adopting out cats and kittens ever since. Robin is a teacher's aid in the Belleville, NJ, school system, working with special needs children. She worked for several years at the Bloomfield Animal Shelter. Marti is a marketing and administrative professional working in New York City, as well as a freelance writer and photographer. Together, they bring experience, determination, and dedication to their mission of helping animals.
At R & M Rockin' Rescues, we work hard to ensure that pets and families are well matched. That is why we use a specific process for matching rescues with people. It is in the best interest of the animal and the adopting family. You must be 21 years or older. There is an adoption fee applicable to all pets adopted. You or your guardian must agree to and sign off on the terms of our Adoption Contract prior to adoption. All members living in the home must meet the animal prior to adoption. Home visits may be required depending on the animal & pet's history. Adoption or Foster Applications must be filled out prior to taking the pet. References are required & will be contacted. You must provide the name of your current or potential veterinary clinic.
