The Plainfield Area Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization, governed by a Board of Trustees. Our Mission is to find a safe, loving and appropriate home for every homeless pet, including those with special needs or challenges. We strive to treat, heal, and provide optimal well-being for the animals placed in our care; and to create an environment where our animals receive love, respect and attention.
Come by the shelter and take a look at our animals! Once you have a particular animal in mind, fill out an application at the shelter or online here. If you rent, we need a copy of your lease with the pet addendum included, or contact information for your landlord for us to contact. If you own, we need a copy of your deed or proof of ownership. If that is not available, we will do a tax assessment check when you are in the shelter. Once housing is cleared and your application has been approved, you can fill out our Adoption Deposit Form at the shelter and put down a $20 (minimum) deposit on your animal. This deposit puts a hold on the animal, meaning no one else will be able to adopt them and they are yours furever! Once the deposit is put down, the animal will be fixed if they are not already, up to-date on all vaccinations and microchipped.
