We are a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue group and receive no public funding. Adoption fees include the actual cost of vetting and transport, with a small amount added to help maintain animals still in our care. We pay for food, sterilization, vaccinations, emergency health care, gas for transportation of animals for health care, medications, pens and dog houses, etc. Animals are maintained in foster homes to be socialized and receive the best possible care before going to their "Forever Homes."
On submitting an application, each adopter is interviewed by a Board member, then referred to the dog's foster family to learn more about the dog. If the foster family and our Board agree it is a good fit, the application is approved. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, all appropriate vaccinations, treatment as needed for internal/external parasites, health certification, and out-of-state transport. Local adoption fees are adjusted accordingly, as no commercial transport is required. Fees are also adjusted for senior or special-needs animals who are adopted. All records of veterinary and other health care accompany each dog to its new home.
