Malamute Rescue of Alaska is an all volunteer organization dedicated to finding new homes for homeless Malamutes. If you live in Alaska and are interested in adopting a malamute, you've come to the right place. We are an affiliate of the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League, the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate, Malamute Rescue of Alaska operates under AMAL's code of ethics. We offer educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, are able to help an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and are happy to provide support for behavioral issues. We are also trying to raise funds to help care for Malamutes with adoptable personalities who have been pulled from shelters, or who have been seized by authorities after having been abandoned, neglected, or abused.
A large, strong, independent and stubborn breed like the Malamute may not be the best choice for you or your family, no matter how beautiful they are. We require an application (please e-mail to request the forms), references, and a homecheck, as well as a contract and post adoption check up. We check the references you provide, so please make sure the information you give us is accurate, or we may choose to deny your application based on the fact that we were provided with misleading information. All Malamute Rescue of Alaska Malamutes are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and micro chipped. Any health or behavioral issues will be noted in writing as well. A fee for each of our Malamutes is required to offset the expenses involved with making sure the dog you take home is a healthy one. Without assessing a fee we would not be able to afford to continue rescuing this glorious but sometimes difficult breed, so we appreciate your understanding in this matter. We ALWAYS take our dogs back, so if your circumstances change and you must give up the dog, please call us immediately so we can make new arrangements for the Malamute. If you or anyone living with you has a history or record of violence of any kind, or has been involved in the abuse or neglect of an animal in any form, you will not be considered as a adoptive or foster home, so please do not waste our time and yours by applying.
