MAFIA was co-founded and incorporated in 2003 under the name of Fairfield Animal Rescue (FAR) as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity by two residents of Winnsboro, South Carolina, who wanted to begin a rescue for re-homing abused and abandoned pets in Fairfield County. Since that time, we have re-homed hundreds of dogs and cats, who have come to us from all over the state, and some have gone to new homes as far away as Pennsylvania and Florida. Home visits are required prior to adoption, even for long-distance placements, to ensure that the placement is within our strict guidelines. We have a life interest in every pet we rescue, and never discard a pet, regardless of their medical condition, aging or failure to receive a permanent home. Once they come into our Family, they are in for life. We hope that you will "Join the Family" through membership, volunteering, adoption, and/or tax-deductible donations.
MAFIA has many pets available for adoption. Should you be interested in one of our wonderful pets, please feel free to download our application and mail to us. Our adoption coordinator will review your application, call you for an interview and schedule an appointment for you to meet your possible new best friend. Just a reminder, our adoption application is primarily a questionaire asking for general information so that we can determine if you are indeed a perfect match for your pet of interest...it is NOT A CONTRACT and you are not obligated to adopt a pet nor are we obligated to adopt the pet to you. We will schedule an appointment for an interview so that you can meet the pet that interests you and give you a chance to get acquainted; if all goes well we can then proceed with the adoption.
