Lone Star Shih Tzu And Lhasa Apso Rescue - Houston Pet Shelter

Lone Star Shih Tzu And Lhasa Apso Rescue

The Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue (LSSTLAR) is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abused, abandoned and neglected Shih Tzus and Lhasa Apsos. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which means your donations may be tax deductible. Our dogs come from shelters, animal control, puppy mills, as well as owner turn-ins. They are immediately taken to our veterinarian for a complete physical examination. They are spayed or neutered, if needed, and receive all vaccinations. They are checked for both heart and intestinal worms and receive the appropriate treatments. The next step on their journey is a foster home. We begin with evaluating their temperament, such as how they get along with other dogs or cats. We also determine if they are a playful dog or a cuddly lap dog. If we observe any behavior problems we begin positive training. The dogs are then placed on the Petfinder.com website and are ready for adoption.

Adoption Process

Step 1 - Application. Step 2 - Veterinary Records. Step 3 - References. Step 4 - Home Visit. Once we have received and reviewed your first three steps (completed application, vet records, and three completed reference questionnaires) we will schedule a time for one of our volunteers to come to your home for an interview. During this home visit our volunteer will look around your house/apartment and yard for any potential hazards (such as poisonous house plants, gaps in fences, etc.) that may need to be corrected before you receive your new family member. We reserve the right to deny any adoption for any reason.
