Little Souls Foundation - Wallingford Pet Shelter

Little Souls Foundation consists of a few individuals who are dedicated to rescuing animals (one by one) that are in immediate danger of being euthanized. Most of our dogs will be coming from southern high kill shelters. Most dogs will be puppies and young adults whose only crime was being born to parents owned by people who did not take the responsibility to spay or neuter their pets. Because Little Souls Foundation is based in CT, we hope that before you apply for a dog from us, you check out CT shelters and pounds for your new pet. There are many wonderful dogs and cats waiting there for caring homes. If you are set on getting a puppy and can't find the one you want, then Little Souls Foundation may be able to help. It's so disheartening to see mixed breed puppies offered for sale when so many wonderful mixed breed puppies perish each year.

Adoption Process

Little Souls Foundation only rescues a few dogs at a time. They are all home fostered until they are adopted. That gives us a chance to know the individual animal and to see how they react in a home environment. When we adopt an animal into a home, we place them in the best prescreened home for that particular animal. The screening procedure is based on information given to us by the potential adopter. It also consists of a home visit and dog interaction (dogs currently living in the adopter's home) and vet references. DOGS ARE ONLY ADOPTED TO PEOPLE LIVING IN CT. Most adoption fees range from $400 to $550 depending on the dog and the expenses that Little Souls Foundation has incurred on behalf of that dog. Typically the expenses include spay/neuter of dog, transportation to CT, shots, worming, microchip implantation and registration, heartworm and flea preventative. Every penny of all adoption fees are used to rescue more little souls running out of time. ALL INITIAL CONTACTS with Little Souls Foundation should be made via e-mail to [email protected]. Please include your HOME PHONE number and not just a cell phone number.
