JerseyCats was incorporated in 2010 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer-run, foster based rescue dedicated to improving the lives of homeless cats and kittens through rescue and adoption. JerseyCats has simple and clear objectives to help cats: Homing - finding homes for cats in need by facilitating foster care and adoption; Reducing overpopulation - supporting and encouraging the spay/neuter of cats; Outreach - improving people’s understanding of cats and their care through community education. JerseyCats strives to find homes for friendly, adoptable cats in need. We rescue homeless cats and kittens from unsafe or undesirable situations, predominantly in Jersey City, Hoboken Union City and Weehawken. Because we do not have a shelter facility and have limited resources, JerseyCats cannot accept owner surrenders.
If you are interested in giving a JerseyCat a new home please contact us, or complete our on line adoption application. If you are interested in a particular cat, please put his or her name on your application. If you are uncertain, our adoption specialists will be happy to play matchmaker. Please answer all questions on the application as honestly and thoroughly as possible so that we may match you with your perfect companion. We do require that you meet your potential friend before making a final decision. This will give you the chance to see if you bond with him or her and make sure we’ve made a good match. JerseyCats reserves the right to do a home check and/or deliver your new companion in order to see where he or she will live.
