Illinois Humane - Springfield Pet Shelter

Illinois Humane

Illinois Humane is a Springfield-based 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization working to rescue, re-home and provide better lives for abandoned, abused and neglected companion animals. Established in August 2003, it is an all-volunteer organization, with no paid staff. It uses nine state-approved volunteer Humane Investigators who look into allegations of abuse or neglect of domestic animals. Four investigators are also approved to do equine cases. Illinois Humane does not have a kennel facility or office location and all rescued animals are sheltered in a network of foster homes or discounted kennel spaces. Illinois Humane is not officially affiliated with other area shelters, but works cooperatively with them to provide rescue services and promote humane treatment of companion animals.
