The Animal Care Shelter for Kent County, formerly The Humane Society of Kent County, is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Kent County on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We are not affiliated with The Humane Society of the United States or any other local or national animal welfare organization. In addition, while we receive about a third of our operating funds from Kent County to provide Animal Control Services for the County, we are not a County agency. The remaining two-thirds of our budget comes from fees for services and private donations from generous citizens and organizations.
