High Forest Humane Society was founded in 2003 in Hohenwald, Tennessee. The need for a safety net for the companion animals of Lewis County was extremely urgent. With the assistance of just a handful of volunteers, we have rescued, fostered and found homes for over 5,000 dogs. We are an all volunteer organization funded entirely by donations from the community. 100% of the money we raise goes to the animals. We operate in an area of rural Tennessee where there is no animal control infrastructure, and in most cases we are the only hope for unwanted dogs.
