Greene County Animal Care And Control - Xenia Pet Shelter

Mission: Our intent is to provide each animal with an appropriate home environment and foster a good pet-owner bond, and to assure that the animal is well cared for and will not be allowed to reproduce and add to the pet overpopulation problem. We do reserve the right to disapprove any placements that we feel is not in the best interest of the people or the animal. Occasionally an animal will get so much interest that there are several interested applicants. In such a case we will choose the applicant that we feel provides the most ideal chance for a wonderful pet / owner relationship.

Adoption Process

Generally the adoption process is offered to citizens on a first come-first serve basis. That means the first qualified good home that is authorized by our personnel at the shelter. No reserves may be taken by phone or email. After a visit to the shelter to actually meet with the animal and our staff, prospective adopters are required to submit a short application stating their living arrangements and indicating the ability to adequately care for the prospective pet. We may check for prior history with animals and would ask that renters have landlord permission to keep pets before the adoption is approved. Dog Adoption fees $ 135.00 (includes vet exam, vaccinations, heartworm tested, wormed, flea treatment, micro chipping and current year registration). Cat Adoption fees $ 90.00 (includes vet exam, vaccinations, FELV Tested, wormed, flea treatment, and micro chipping)
