Gordon County Animal Shelter - Calhoun Pet Shelter

The Animal Control Department enforces the county’s animal control ordinance in the unincorporated area of the county and in the Town of Resaca through a contract, assists the other cities with their animal control needs when requested, enforces state laws regarding animal control issues, resolves citizen complaints, picks up stray dogs, and assists law enforcement agencies including the Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Police with animal control problems. This department also operates a 38 unit dog and 20 unit cat holding facility, euthanizes animals, and manages an animal adoption program.
