Denver Samoyed Rescue - Lafayette Pet Shelter

Denver Samoyed Rescue

Denver Samoyed Rescue (DSR) is part of the Denver Samoyed Association, Inc. and was formally established in 1993. Denver Samoyed Rescue is a member of the local All Breed Rescue Network and is recognized as an active Samoyed rescue by the Samoyed Club of America. Denver Samoyed Rescue works closely with area shelters to become apprised of Samoyeds needing to be placed in new homes, provides foster homes if needed, handles dogs found running at large, and takes requests from people wishing to place their Samoyeds in other homes. We do not sell puppies or dogs.

Adoption Process

Anyone interested in adopting a DSR Samoyed must complete an APPLICATION FOR ADOPTION. The application is a list of questions inquiring about your pet ownership philosophy and match to the Samoyed breed (for instance, if you prefer not to deal with a dog that sheds or dog hair in general - this is not the breed for you!). We also ask for veterinary references which are checked. If there are any questions, we'll talk to you about our concern(s) and go from there. Please understand the reason behind this screening process- we are interested in finding a permanent, committed, loving home for our Sams. Their health and well-being is our PRIMARY CONCERN. We make every effort to place the right dog with the right people - the FIRST time around . It needs to be a good match on BOTH ends - for you, AND for the dog.. We do reserve the righ tto deny any applicant a dog. We will NOT hold a rescue dog for you. Once you have completed an application if we have a dog we think may interest you we'll contact you - along with anyone else that is currently waiting for a similar match. We work on a first come, first served basis – providing the match between dog AND family is a good one for both. However in situations where an owner is involved in the placement, they generally have the final word on who gets their animal. The majority of our dogs come from private individuals who have asked us to help them find a new home for their Samoyed. We also work with shelters in the area who have Samoyeds they have been unable to place. We do NOT help individuals sell their Samoyeds.
