Cherished Life is a non profit organization dedicated to providing foster care and veterinary care to animals in need. Everyday our local shelters are inundated with animals surrendered by their owners, picked up by animal control, or found by local citizens. Quite frequently these pets are ill and in desperate need of medical attention. Our goal is to provide affordable veterinary care so that more homeless pets can have a second chance at life.
1. Download the adoption application from our website at: www.cherishedlife.org. 2. Complete the application and send back to me by email: drmaryvet@hotmail.com. 3. Once your application is approved, you may put a deposit down for $25 to hold a kitten ($25 per kitten). 4 We will notify you when the kittens are ready to have their spay/neuter surgery. 5. Then we can set up an appointment for you to meet the kittens at my clinic in Anderson, IN (once they have recovered from surgery). 6. To follow CDC guidelines, we must limit our guests to two people per family, and we ask that you wear a mask when entering the building. 7. The adoption fee is $100, and we can take check or cash. This fee helps to cover the costs of the medical care they have received during their stay with us. 8. If you adopt the momma cat with one of her kittens, the adult cat’s adoption fee of $75 is waived! 9. We have an adoption contract for you to sign when you pick up - you can also download this on our website if you would like to read it ahead of time.10. Please know that I personally care for all of the animals directly, and I make sure that they are healthy prior to adoption. If they have had ANY medical issues, I will explain in detail what they have had and give you a copy of my medical records. Once adoption is complete, you will responsible to bring your pet to your veterinarian for any illness and to continue their vaccines. 11. All kittens will be current on their vaccines, dewormings, and flea treatments when you adopt. It is important that you know that kittens need to have a series of vaccines. Therefore, they may need several additional shots after you take them home. We encourage you to speak with your veterinarian about their recommendation and fees. A rabies vaccine cannot be given until the animal is 12 weeks of age or older.12. All of our cats and kittens are tested for Feline Leukemia prior to adoption. 13. Most flea/parasite treatments are given once a month. If you would like to purchase more, we have a variety of products in stock.14. We strongly discourage people from declawing their cats. There are many effective options to prevent them from scratching on furniture and/or carpet. We would be happy to discuss these options with you in greater detail. Cats that are declawed are far more likely to develop problems later on with urinating around the house. This is because there is some residual discomfort, and the litter becomes irritating to their paws. 15. If you would like for your baby to be microchipped at the time of surgery, the cost is $25 (The needle is HUGE so the best time to do it is when they are sleeping under anesthesia:). 16. All of our kittens are fed Purina Kitten Chow. If you would like to change their food, we just recommend that you do so gradually (mixing the old with the new) so that it does not upset their bellies. 17. If you have any other questions, please feel free to message me directly at drmaryvet@hotmail.com. 18. Thank you so much for your interest in our babies and helping us save more lives.
