Adoption Process

We recommend you start the adoption process with a visit to the shelter and speaking with the staff about what you are looking for in a pet. Do you want a running companion or a couch buddy? Next, take a look at the available pets. You are welcome to visit with the pets outside of their kennels. We have a large dog park and you are welcome to bring your current dog(s) to meet a potential new family member. Once you've picked out a new pet, the staff will fill out the adoption application and answer any questions you may have. Once the application is completed, the front desk staff will verify that (1) if you rent, it is ok with your landlord for you to have the new pet and (2) if you have pets already, that they are up to date on their rabies vaccination through a licensed veterinarian. Other than those two criteria, we are just working to make sure we make an appropriate match for your lifestyle. Often pets can go home the same day the application is taken, as long as we can verify the above information and provided the pet is already spayed or neutered. If not, we can usually get the surgery completed within 3-5 days. The adoption fee covers the spay/neuter of the pet, rabies vaccination, annual booster vaccination, microchipping, deworming, and city license. No appointment is needed to come and meet our available pets. Just come in during our open hours and we would be happy to help you meet your new best friend.
