Download and complete an adoption application for the animal type you are interested in adopting (adoption applications can be found below). Once completed, email your signed application to adopt@burbankca.gov with your full name in the subject line (example: John Doe’s Application). Step 3: Select An Adoption Screening Appointment. Use our online appointment system to choose a time that works best for you and other members in your household to conduct an in person meet-and-greet at our Shelter. Links to our adoption appointments can be found on the profiles of pets currently available for adoption. Step 4: Pre-Adoption Screening. The day before your appointment, you will be contacted by an adoption counselor to confirm your appointment, review your application and provide you with more information about the pet you are scheduled to meet. Step 5: Meet And Greet. Arrive at the Shelter for a meet and greet. Potential adopters are asked to call the shelter upon their arrival. A Shelter staff member will meet you in the parking lot to escort you to one of our designated meeting areas where one of our pets will be excited to meet you. Social distancing and safety measures will be observed. Potential adopters will be expected to wear masks at all times, or to stay home if feeling unwell. Step 6: Adoption Success. If the meet-and-greet is successful and you decide to adopt, Shelter staff will direct you to our front lobby where you can finalize your adoption!
