Animals in Distress, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has serviced the Mercer County area for over 50 years. As one of the oldest rescues in our area, our primary focus has been rescue of abandoned, abused, or neglected cats and kittens. Our rescue maintains a small adoption room in Mercerville, NJ, often referred to as the cat cottage, where cats can receive visitors inquiring about adoption in a relaxed environment. The cats and kittens in the cottage are offered out of cage time daily to exercise, play, bird-watch through the window, or lounge in the sun. We have no paid employees, and are 100% volunteer run. This ensures that all donations received go directly to the care and well-being of animals we rescue.
