AARF is a highly recognized animal rescue in the greater Winston-Salem area that provides foster care, medical services, and adoption to homeless, abandoned, surrendered, and sick animals so they can have a new lease on life. We are a no-kill, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Through adoption, spay/neuter, high quality animal care professionals, community outreach and education, AARF helps to improve the health of our pet community that in turn improves the health of our entire community. AARF is unique in that it will accept difficult to adopt cats and dogs. AARF often provides medical services and training to challenging animals unable to find other services. However, there are times when AARF is unable to accept an animal into the program. Not because we don’t want to, but because we are often at full capacity and AARF simply may not have room or a foster family available.
Steps for Dog Adoption: 1. Check out the Adoptable Dogs to see available dogs/puppies. 2. Come to an Adoption Fair. Dogs do not live at AARF and are only shown on Sat. from 11-1. Check the AARF facebook page for schedule updates. 3. Complete an Adoption Application. 4. We’ll be in touch within a few days. Once your application has been approved and your references have been checked, we setup a home visit. When completed and everyone decides this is a good fit, we will schedule a time for you to come to the AARF house for the adoption. At that time you will receive the vet records we have, complete all the paperwork, pay the adoption fee and you take your new puppy/dog to its forever home! It’s a very happy moment for everyone. Steps for Cat Adoption: 1. Check out the Adoptable Cats to see current cats/kittens. 2. Come to an Adoption Fair on Saturday from 12-3 pm. 3. Complete an Adoption Application. 4. After your application is approved, contact AARF to meet the cat that you are interested in adopting. Once your application is approved and fees paid, your new friend can be picked up at a scheduled adoption time.
