American Fox Terrier Rescue is individuals and small groups of unpaid volunteers all over the US and Canada that take in Wire and Smooth Fox Terriers from animal shelters and help re-home dogs being given up by owners. Each group is independent but works together in a network of caring people who love Fox Terriers and want to help these dogs. A Rescue dog is a dog that is in need and the breeder or owner cannot or will not help. American Fox Terrier Rescue takes Smooths and Wires from animal shelters and when there is room, from owners that can no longer keep them and the breeder is unwilling to take the dog back. We help dogs who have lost their homes though divorce or death of their owners. Many come from wonderful homes, but though life changes, the dog needs a new home. American Fox Terrier Rescue groups are often best qualified to find that new home. Fox Terriers in animal shelters usually only have a few days before being put to sleep. American Fox Terrier Rescue moves quickly to try and get these dogs out and safely into rescue. Most are wonderful pets, they have just fallen on hard times.
To adopt a fox terrier rescue cutie, you'll need to contact an American Fox Terrier Rescue Volunteer in your area and to fill out an Adoption Application. Please send the completed application to your nearest rescue volunteer, so that we can help you get started in finding your new best friend. There are many wonderful dogs waiting for homes across the United States and Canada. Some regions have more Fox Terriers waiting for homes than others. American Fox Terrier Rescue volunteers do their best to match the right dog with the right family, rescue volunteers and adopters sometimes even transporting dogs across country to a waiting rescue volunteer to get that perfect match.* We want this next home to be the dog's forever home. Also, take a moment and read a wonderful article, Thinking About a Rescue Dog on what to expect when adopting a dog through rescue.

Because Labs are more often euthanized at shelters! Sure, they're one of America's favorite breeds, but when people adopt a puppy and the dog starts to display that “Lab energy," chews up someone's shoes, or takes up too much time, they sometimes get dumped at a shelter. Some perfectly great dogs end up at shelters because their family moved, had a baby, got divorced, or some
