We have a lofty, but achievable goal of saving all of Alabama’s homeless animals…by reducing the number of pets killed in shelters and by reducing the number of homeless pets on the streets in Alabama’s communities. All of them deserve our help! The humans of A New Leash on Life have been working diligently to create a no-kill community in Huntsville. We have led the way with many life-saving programs that our city has embraced and successfully implemented, and Huntsville now has a live release rate of over 90%! Compare this to a less than 50% live release rate just a few years ago, and you see why we are so excited about it! While we celebrate this milestone, we recognize that our work is not complete. Madison County, along with many rural Alabama communities within a two hour drive of Huntsville, still need our support. They have very few resources for saving homeless, injured, or abandoned animals. So we are focused on helping those rural pets, while still supporting Huntsville.
