A.d.o.p.t. Pet Shelter

Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment (A.D.O.P.T.) is a private, “no-kill”, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has found homes for more than 20,000 pets. We provide a temporary, loving home for dogs and cats that no longer have a family of their own. The animals in our shelter have ended up here for a variety of reasons ranging from abandonment, to rescue from an abusive situation, to owner surrender because they no longer are able to take care of them. Our animals are loving, family pets who are desperately awaiting for their forever home. A.D.O.P.T. was founded in 1989 by a group of dedicated volunteers determined to find homes for animals in need. Over the years, our objective has remained the same: to place animals into permanent, caring homes and advance the humane treatment of animals through education.

Adoption Process

1. Visit our website (www.adoptpetshelter.org) to learn more information about animals up for adoption. 2. Complete an appropriate adoption application and email it to adoptions@adoptpetshelter.org. Please be sure to answer all of the questions completely (incomplete applications will not be accepted) and include the dog or cat you are interested in adopting. Please feel free to list multiple animals as your first choice may not be available. 3. Once your application is approved, our adoption team will contact you to set up a meet and greet. During the meet and greet you will have an opportunity to learn more about the pet you are interested in adopting. If the meeting goes well and you think you have found your match, we will complete the final steps. This includes the adoption contract and adoption fees. Please be prepared to take your new pet home at this time. 4. The whole family should attend the meet and greet.
