Wyoming Dachshund And Corgi Rescue - New Braunfels Pet Shelter

Wyoming Dachshund And Corgi Rescue

We are an all volunteer run non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Dachshunds and Corgis in need of finding new homes. We take Dachshunds and Corgis and mixes of each, from owner surrenders, shelters and strays from mainly Texas, Colorado and Wyoming but also occasionally from surrounding states. The dogs brought into our rescue are in approved foster homes. We expose them to as many different situations as we can while providing love, attention, guidance, house and basic training, nutritional food and plenty of mental and physical stimulation many of these dogs are craving . We believe strongly in setting them up for success. We get to know all of our dogs very well before placing them for adoption. This way we can make sure they end up in a forever home that best matches their needs and matches what their adopter is looking for in their next best friend. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, vetted, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and dental treatment as needed.

Adoption Process

The first step is the adoption application must be submitted with applicant’s full legal name, home address and mailing address if different. P.O. Boxes are not home addresses. This must be your physical location so we know where the dog would be living, and we can set up a home visit. The second step is, if you are selected as a good match for an available dog based on the answers provided on your application, we would be in contact to follow up. If we both agree at that time that you and the dog are compatible, then a home visit would be scheduled, and transport arranged to get the dog to you or you come to get the dog. We do prefer our fosters be a part of this process, so you will likely get a call from the foster to fill you in on more details about the dog (daily schedule, likes and dislikes, examples of interaction with other dogs, cats or children, etc). (We do not process every application as they come in. We scan them and narrow down to a few applications for the best matches.) We then contact the veterinary and personal references. Once those are complete, we have to decide which home is the best FOREVER home for the dog. All things being equal the person in the state the dog is fostered in would be selected. Prior to getting the dog, an adoption contract must be signed, and fee submitted.
