Whiskers Animal Benevolent League is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization registered with the New York State Charities Registration Bureau. We are Registered Rescue #RR-304 with New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. We are a small, all volunteer-run, no-kill animal shelter in Albany, New York. Here at Whiskers we believe every life is meaningful and worth saving. We go the extra mile to do whatever it takes to make each cat and kitten's life we commit to, be the best it can be. Every cat and kitten we take in gets Whiskers' lifetime pledge to be there for them for their entire lives if need be.
The fastest way to get our attention about a cat you're interested in is to complete an online application. There you will be able to indicate the name or description of the cat or cats you'd like to meet. If you are unable to fill it out online, you can stop by PetSmart during one of our adoption clinics and fill one out on paper. Once submitted, the application review process generally takes a day or two. You are under no obligation to adopt by completing an application; we only want to make the best match. Some of our cats live at our shelter in Albany and others live in foster care. After you submit your application, an adoption counselor will contact you. If the cat you are interested in meeting is living at our shelter, we will arrange for a shelter visit; if the cat is in foster care (this is always the case with kittens), we will arrange for the foster to bring them to PetSmart to meet you. Cats from both our shelter and foster homes rotate in and out of PetSmart where applicants can meet them during adoption clinic hours.
