Wayne County Humane Society was incorporated in 1980, but was not able to built a facility until 1991 when a county resident, who had taken in strays during her lifetime, left money allowing us to build a shelter. Wayne County Humane Society (and Animal Control) now covers more than 720 square miles. We are a non-profit group dedicated to the welfare of all companion animals. All animals adopted from us must be leave with a microchip and be spayed or neutered to help prevent more needless animals being put to sleep.
