We are a small county shelter with one full time Animal Control Officer and a handful of very dedicated volunteers. We are licensed by the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture. Our shelter is small and cannot hold many animals. We hold strays for seven days to give owners time to locate and retrieve their lost pets. Owner surrenders are held at the discretion of the Animal Control Officer. Hundreds of animals come to our shelter each year. Every opportunity is made to find homes for the animals, however, if homes cannot be found, the animals can be euthanized. The animals at the shelter deserve a second chance and a loving home! Our staff is dedicated to saving as many animals as possible. We have made great progress in decreasing euthanasia numbers and increasing adoptions. We have caring, loving, and dedicated volunteers that provide needed attention to the animals at the shelter. The animals are given high quality food, a bath, water, veterinary care, and lots of TLC.
