Vida Rescue - La Puente Pet Shelter

Vida Rescue

Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2015 by a group of passionate volunteers who have been working for years to end the mistreatment and suffering of all animals. Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness, neglect, abuse, cruelty, and abandonment. We provide medical care, shelter, food, and most importantly love for homeless animals and sponsor spay and neuter campaigns for communities in need in the US as well as in Mexico. We also assist other rescues in numerous cities of Mexico and provide animal welfare services for homeless dogs and cats in the streets of Mexico. Our Vision is to see the end of mistreatment and exploitation of animals and see them in perfect, forever loving homes.

Adoption Process

1. View our adoptable pets online. We are not open to the public since we are a small run rescue shelter. We are by appointment only. In the meantime, you'll be able to view all of our adoptables here. We also post lots of animals on petfinder so take a look there as well! 2. Apply to adopt the pet. Filling out the adoption application helps us ensure that your home and lifestyle is a good fit for the pet you're interested in. We spend lots of time with the dogs and cats in our care and often have a network of volunteers to help us determine if a pet would be happy in your home! Our goal is to find the best possible home for our rescues. Your application MUST be approved prior to setting up an appointment. Age Requirements: dogs/puppies - 21+ yrs old, cats/kittens - 18+ yrs old. 3. Meet the pet after your application is APPROVED! We often get 10-40 applications for an animal but can only choose one. Your application is also automatically considered for any other pets in our care, so be sure to periodically check our adoptables list. If you applied previously, please go to your confirmation email for your submission and click “Edit Form” and change the pet name to the new animal you’re interested in. We'd also be happy to keep an eye out for any pets that match the criteria you're looking for. After your application is approved, you'll be able to meet the pet at our adoption center! 4. Complete the adoption. If you think you've found the perfect match, you can complete the adoption upon meeting your pet. We do not hold animals for any greater than 1-2 days. You'll have the opportunity to ask our adoption coordinators and fosters (when applicable and available) any questions about caring for your pet, and we’ll answer to the best of our abilities!
